What are the benefits of hypnotherapy?

Introduction

Hypnotherapy is a technique that can help you improve your health and well-being. It’s been used for hundreds of years, yet it remains one of the least understood therapies in Western medicine. But there are many potential benefits of hypnotherapy, especially when it’s used alongside traditional therapies such as psychotherapy or physical therapy.

So what exactly is hypnotherapy? And why should you consider trying it? In this article, we’ll answer these questions and more!

Hypnotherapy can treat anxiety and depression.

  • Hypnotherapy can help people with depression and anxiety to feel better.

Hypnotherapy can help people who have had phobias and other panic disorders, including PTSD.

Hypnotherapy can also be used to treat phobias and panic disorders, including PTSD. If you have any kind of anxiety disorder, it’s important to find a qualified hypnotherapist who has experience treating your specific condition.

To find a hypnotherapist, ask for recommendations from family members or friends who have been through treatment and are now symptom-free. You can also look on Yelp or other review sites for local options in your area.

It’s not uncommon for people with severe anxiety issues to require ongoing sessions with their therapists over an extended period of time; this is why it’s important that you choose someone who will work with you until they help alleviate all symptoms and get you back on track with life again.

Hypnotherapy can help the body heal through pain management.

Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool that can help you manage your pain. Many people have chronic pain, but don’t know how to cope with it or reduce it. With hypnosis and relaxation techniques, you can learn how to control your emotions, which can lead to better physical results.

While there are many benefits of hypnotherapy for people with chronic pain, one of the most significant is that it encourages them to take an active role in their treatment plan and helps them understand how their mind affects their body’s ability to heal itself.

Chronic pain affects many people in the world, and it’s important to learn all you can about it. Hypnosis can help people who suffer from chronic pain. Hypnosis is a treatment that uses special techniques to relax the mind and body, using imagery as well as sounds and words to influence how the person feels about their condition. It may also be used with other methods of therapy or treatment, including biofeedback and acupuncture. The goal of this type of therapy is not just to reduce symptoms but also improve physical function and quality of life by helping patients become more active (such as walking around) or manage their symptoms better than they were before starting treatment (like taking fewer medications).

Hypnotherapy can be used to treat irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn’s disease.

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and Crohn’s disease are both gastrointestinal disorders that can cause abdominal pain and discomfort.
  • Hypnotherapy may help relieve symptoms of IBS, Crohn’s disease, and other gastrointestinal conditions.
  • The length of time it takes to see results from hypnotherapy depends on the individual. Some people will see improvements after one session while others may take several sessions before they begin to experience any improvement in their condition.

If you aren’t seeing results after your first session or two, discuss this with your therapist or doctor who can determine if further treatment is needed or if another treatment is more appropriate for you.*

Hypnotherapy could play a role in anxiety and stress reduction during pregnancy and childbirth.

  • Pain is a big concern for many women during childbirth. Hypnotherapy can be used to reduce pain during labor and delivery by teaching women how to relax, focus on the present moment and release tension from the body.
  • Pregnant women often experience stress, anxiety and worry about their unborn child’s health. A hypnotherapist can help you deal with these feelings by teaching you how to relax and become more confident in your pregnancy.
  • Having children is often one of life’s biggest stressors for many parents – especially first-time parents! Hypnosis can help reduce stress levels by helping you achieve a state of deep relaxation where resistance towards change will no longer exist within yourself or your relationship with others around you (or even the baby inside).

Hypnotherapists use different methods of induction to guide their clients into a hypnotic state. Some methods include counting backwards or having the patient look at an object for several seconds before closing their eyes or listening to relaxing music such as classical or instrumental jazz music that has no lyrics or vocals (this is called “alpha brain wave”).

Hypnosis and Weight Loss

We hear daily about obesity and being overweight and its negative health effects on the news, social media and television ads. There is a national epidemic here in Canada, but no one seems to be paying much attention.

Using Hypnosis for weight loss has been helping people for many years, but because it is not readily recognized by the medical community, it doesn’t get the publicity or recognition for its success. Weight loss through Hypnosis needs to be publicized as much as the disease itself.

Health Canada’s resource for Canadian health statistics, http://www.statcan.gc.ca/eng/health/index states that in 2014 smoking rates in Canada fell to their lowest level since 2001. Why? Because obesity has taken over as the front runner. They state, “For example, one in five Canadians, 18 years of age or older – roughly 5.3 million people – reported height and weight that classified them as obese”. This can leads to further health problems such as:

  • Breathing difficulties
  • Cancer
  • Coronary artery disease
  • Death
  • Depression
  • Diabetes
  • Gallbladder problems
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Higher risk during surgery
  • Joint problems
  • Low self-esteem
  • Hypnosis and Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive disease of the nervous system marked by tremors, muscular rigidity, slow imprecise movement (Bradykinesia), and sometimes challenges speech and writing abilities.

Linda became interested in working with Parkinson’s patients after helping her sister through Hypnosis, with her own Parkinson’s related symptoms. Linda then started researching and using Hypnosis with several other Parkinson’s patients and quickly learned how she could vastly improve their “quality of life”. Linda has been speaking about and using Hypnosis for Parkinson’s patients for many years with great success both virtually and in person.
Linda interviews the client for an hour assessing their symptoms and deciding which symptoms are most troublesome. She then creates a personalized hypnosis mp3 for them, working on “a trigger” taught to the client under hypnosis to stop their tremors and to give them relief as tremors can be very tiring for them.
Linda has had enormous success working with Parkinson’s clients and instilling hope that they can learn to control their symptoms using hypnosis.

This presentation was a case study of a 58-year old woman diagnosed and suffering with Parkinson’s for 20 years. Her symptoms were ongoing; insomnia, poor gait and mobility, severe pain in her legs, difficulty to rise easily from a chair and poor dexterity causing her inability to type on her computer. This client gave her testimonial in a video interview 18 months after only four (4) hypnosis sessions with Linda Hay, CH, RN,BScN.
